Code Enforcement

American Canyon's Code Enforcement Division works closely within the community to protect public health, safety and welfare, enforcing city codes related to nuisance and land use violations. The division strives to enhance and safeguard the quality of life of our community through education, guidance and enforcement of city codes.

Step 1.Before Filing a Complaint

Collect the address, specific location and a description of the issue. If possible, include a photo of the violation. Also, note the time and day, if the violation occurs at a particular time.

To report an abandoned vehicle or a vehicle that has been parked in the same spot for more than 72 hours, please call the American Canyon Police Department at (707) 551-0600. If you reach the voicemail after hours, please leave the location, make, model, color and license plate number of the vehicle.

Step 2.Request an Investigation

Submit your request using the online form below. Enter the details of the violation including a description of the concern, address, and your contact information.

Step 3.What Happens Next

After your request is submitted, our Code Enforcement Officer will visit the site to confirm a violation exists. Contact is made with the property owner to discuss the violation and identify corrective action steps.

In most cases, the property owner was simply unaware of the regulations. We give the property owner a reasonable time frame to complete the required corrections, with the goal of voluntary compliance.

All requests are anonymous, meaning the property owner will be unaware of who requested the investigation. We will be in touch with you to follow up as needed and let you know of the resolution if we are legally able to.

Please be patient with the process. Complicated situations may take up to a year or more to correct.
