Construction Alert!

Between Monday, July 15 through Friday, August 2, 2024, Benton Way (between Elliott Drive and Wetlands Edge Road) will be closed to traffic and on-street parking Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pedestrian access on Benton Way will always be open. Recreation programs at the Phillip West Aquatics Center will continue as scheduled. Parking will be available in the lot adjacent to the aquatics center, accessible from Chaucer Lane or the intersection of Donaldson Way & Amarillo Drive. Please allow extra time for potential delays in access due to the construction.

Welcome to the American Canyon’s Phillip West Aquatics Center. Our community pool is open to all American Canyon residents as swimming improves social well-being, our programs teach life-saving skills, help improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, and improve our community’s quality of life.

Lap Swim

Lap swimming is a fantastic way to stay healthy and active! You have several options to join in:

  • Monthly Unlimited Pass: Enjoy unlimited lap swimming for the entire month on all available dates and times.
  • Monthly Light Pass: Perfect for those with a busy schedule, this pass allows for 8 visits a month.
  • Daily Drop-In Fee: Pay as you go with a daily fee to participate. $6 Residents/$7 Non-residents.

Swim Lessons

Welcome to American Canyon’s Swim Lesson Program! As an authorized provider for the American Red Cross, our mission is to deliver top-notch aquatic training and promote water safety in a safe and fun environment at the Phillip West Aquatics Center.

Program Highlights:

  • Our Learn-to-Swim program is modeled after the American Red Cross curriculum.
  • Each class is customized to meet the needs of participants, allowing them to progress at their own pace with hands-on instruction from our skilled aquatic staff.
  • The program focuses on mastering one skill before moving on to the next. Participants receive a certificate of completion upon passing each group swim lesson level.

Class Structure:

  • Two-week sessions
  • Monday through Thursday
  • Eight 25-minute classes

Additional Information:

  • Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions each summer.
  • Our staff will ensure swimmers are placed in the appropriate level. Class changes and combinations may be made to enhance the learning experience.

Water Aerobics

Join us for the ultimate low-impact, full-body exercise class that's perfect for all ages! Bring your friends and your favorite water aerobic gear to our fun and energizing aquatic fitness class. Classes are held rain or shine, but if severe weather occurs, we may need to cancel. We'll do our best to notify you about any closures in advance, and in those cases, the city will provide a class credit to your household. Please note that we can't offer refunds or credits for missed classes. You can pay for the full month or choose a daily drop-in fee at the facility. We can't wait to see you there!

AHI Swim Team

AHI Swim Team of American Canyon is a competitive recreational swim team league designed for ages 4-18. AHI is dedicated to improving each swimmer's fitness level, stroke proficiency, and the opportunity to participate in regulation swim meets. AHI’s programming is dedicated toward swimmers with some level of formal swim instruction. As a general guideline, new AHI members are required to meet the following requirements:

  • Ages 4+
  • Can float on their back for 10+ seconds
  • Can hold their breath underwater
  • Can retrieve an item from the bottom of the shallow end
  • Can climb out of the pool independently (no stairs or ladder)
  • Can swim about 1/2 the length of the pool independently
  • Does not have water anxiety/fear
  • Does not have parent separation anxiety/fear

Our partners at AHI Swim Team of American Canyon are a member of the Twin-County Swim League. 

Pool Rules

The health and safety of our staff, program participants, and community are our top priorities. We are dedicated to maintaining a safe and fun aquatic environment for everyone, and we need your cooperation to achieve this.We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making our facility a safe and enjoyable place for everyone!

Our Guidelines

  • All pool users are expected to adhere to the posted rules.
  • Follow any oral instructions given by our aquatic staff.
  • Failure to comply with the rules will result in being asked to leave the facility without a refund.

Pool Rules

  1. Please do not attend class any class or program if you have:
    • Been exposed to someone with COVID-19;
    • You are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms;
    • Or you suspect that you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
  2. Please do not attend class if you are feeling unwell or experiencing a fever.
  3. Participants that have a communicable disease, for example, pink eye, head lice, chickenpox, etc. will not be permitted to participate in any City program or class until they receive medical clearance from a licensed health care provider.
  4. Individuals who are experiencing diarrhea or who have had diarrhea will not be permitted to utilize the facility or participate in any aquatic programs until they are symptom-free for 14 days.
  5. Participants who are not fully potty trained will be required to wear an approved swim diaper while swimming.
  6. Please change all diapers in restroom facilities; please do not change diapers on the pool deck or near the pool water.
  7. No swimming unless there is a City of American Canyon lifeguard on duty.
  8. No running on the pool deck.
  9. Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, smoking, vaping, gum, and illegal drugs are not permitted in the facility.
  10. Pets are not allowed – unless they are service animals.
  11. Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult within the facility.
  12. Children 5 years and under, non-swimmers, and children wearing a US Coast Guard Approved life jacket must be always within the arms of an adult.
  13. US Coast Guard Approved life jackets only.
  14. For your safety, you may be asked to take a swim test prior to entering the deep end of the pool.
  15. Toys and swim equipment will be restricted at the discretion of the lifeguards.
  16. The City of American Canyon is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
  17. City staff have the discretion to limit any activity that may cause injury, or that may be an inconvenience to others.
