Mark Joseph, former Finance Director and City Manager for the City of American Canyon, was elected to the City Council in 2010. His number-one priority is addressing traffic issues, but reducing greenhouse gas emissions comes in close second. Mark is passionate about renewable energy generation, increased energy efficiency in homes and businesses, and speeding up the community’s transition towards electric vehicles.
Mark serves on several local and regional committees, including the Napa Valley Transportation Authority, the Climate Action Committee, the North Bay Water Reuse Authority, and the Napa Valley Unified School District 2X2 Committee. Mark also spends time volunteering with the American Canyon Arts Foundation and the local Kiwanis Club. He frequently volunteers at City events as well. When he can’t donate his time, Mark makes it a priority to support community groups and events through other avenues such as monetary sponsorships.
Two years after American Canyon’s incorporation, Mark was hired as the City’s Finance Director in 1994. In 1997, he was appointed as City Manager and remained in that position until 2006. He retired as Finance Director with Suisun City in 2011. In 2021, Mark will celebrate 35 years of marriage with his wife, Cheryl. Together, they have two adult children and five grandchildren.
