Council Member Melissa Lamattina, a lifelong resident of American Canyon, was elected to the City Council in 2024. Melissa is dedicated to combating climate change, conserving water resources, protecting wetlands from sea-level rise, and promoting sustainable city development. She is also committed to addressing public health and safety and ensuring equity and inclusion for all residents.
Melissa serves on several local and regional committees including the Napa County Watershed Information Center & Conservancy and the Napa County Climate Action Committee. Her extensive community service includes volunteering with NEWS-Sexual Assault Victim Services and the Elder Abuse Project and leadership roles in Soroptimist International of American Canyon, where she is the former president and current vice president. In 2024, Melissa represented workers as a Napa County SEIU 1021 bargaining team member, advocating for fairness and equity in employment contracts.
Melissa has a B.S. in Human Services/Management and an A.A. in Mathematics/Science. She brings a wealth of experience from her decade as a Social Worker for Napa County, where she worked to address the health and safety needs of the community.
As a single mother of two, Melissa understands the challenges families face. In her spare time, she enjoys being in nature, spending time in her garden, traveling and learning about different cultures and meeting new people; and spending time with family and friends. She is passionate about creating a safe, sustainable, and thriving community for all residents of American Canyon.
