The Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) (hotel, motel or "bed" tax) is authorized under State Revenue and Taxation Code section 7280, as an additional source of non-property tax revenue to local government. The TOT in American Canyon is 12% on hotel room rates. Hotels located in the Napa Valley Tourism Improvement District have an additional 2% fee on their rate. Hotels can file TOT returns, online or by mail.
